Can an AC adapter or wall charger be used to charge a Texas Instruments graphing calculator with a TI Rechargeable Battery?

AC adapters or wall chargers can only be used to charge the following graphing calculators that are powered using a TI Rechargeable battery:

  • TI-Nspire CX II
  • TI-Nspire CX II CAS
  • TI-Nspire CX
  • TI-Nspire CX CAS
  • TI-Nspire with Touchpad (with TI Rechargeable battery option)
  • TI-Nspire CAS with Touchpad (with TI Rechargeable battery option)
  • TI-84 Plus CE
  • TI-84 Plus CE Python Edition
  • TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition

Please Note: If you are using a wall charger, make sure you are using the TI wall charger that came with your calculator or other UL-certified USB charger rated for at least 1 amp (usually written as “1A” or “1000 mA”). To determine whether your charger is UL-certified, flip it over to the inside, and read the label. Look for the UL stamp, and confirm that it states that it is 1000 mA or higher.

The I/O port that is located at the bottom of a TI Graphing calculator can be used to connect a TI Connectivity Cable between a TI graphing calculator and a computer or between two graphing calculators and is not used for charging, even with the TI-84 Plus C Silver Edition.
